A certain shipyard named Batu Maung remains forever etched in my memory. On a visit to the docks at the end of Penang Island, I encountered numerous abandoned fishing vessels, succumbing to the relentless grasp of rust and decay.
These once-proud ships that majestically sailed the seas now lay dormant, forgotten relics of a bygone era.
As I stood there, I couldn’t help but engage in an internal dialogue, reflecting on the lives these vessels once led and the stories they could tell. Their current state seemed to echo the impermanence and fragility of all things.
In that moment, I made a promise to myself that I would someday create something to immortalize the beauty and history of these forgotten giants.
The “Rusty Old Shipyard” theme is my tribute to them, capturing the essence of their decayed beauty, and preserving the memory of their glorious past.
